Success at Every Level

news-successHampshire Mezzanine Floors have completed a complicated installation in quick time at the Woolston premises of polythene and plastic sheeting specialists, the Siva Group.

The three-tier plant platform, above an existing pallet conveyor system, required a feat of project management and design.

The main challenge was to ensure that all aspects of health and safety were incorporated into a fast-track programmed, giving Siva sufficient time to utilise the additional space on all levels to install their new production plant equipment, which is part of a major investment programme.

Hoppers, stored at a height of more than 12m high within the roof steels of the building, feed component plastic down to the lower tiers for mixing and distribution. the platform was prefabricated off-site to minimise disruption and mechanical handling and scissor lifts were used to erect the structure safely.

HMF’s team overcame not only health and safety considerations but also came up with a design that complied with Government’s BRE Digest 437 by forming a stable, free-standing structure.

One of the largest three-tier plant platforms in the area, it has been designed to be extended should additional space be required.
