Coopers Fire are an industry-leading fire & smoke curtains manufacturer & installer, trading for over 30 years.

Coopers Fire had outgrown their existing manufacturing & office facilities in Havant & asked HMF to provide designs for a new purpose-built factory which was being constructed for them in Waterlooville.

HMF looked at completing a complete turnkey solution including fitting out all their new offices, as well as providing various types of storage equipment & mezzanine access.

The storage equipment involved designing special cantilever racking of a number of different sizes to accommodate small & large materials & specialised racks for storing parts, manufactured pieces & finished goods. Some of the cantilever racks required special height removable end stops & some also needed structural timber decking in a close boarded configuration to store long items safely.

HMF also specified additional new pallet racking with open boarded structural timber decking & accessories. Longspan shelving was also designed to complement the existing Longspan shelving being resited from the Havant location.

A heavy duty mezzanine floor plant platform was designed to house the main heating system for the factory above ground level to maximise the space utilisation there. A tall 2 tier staircase with double top landing & mid landing was incorporated to give direct access to production from the offices. The offices were designed with a high specification partitioning system incorporating various types of glazing to match aesthetically in colour the external windows of the building.

Some of this glazing was specified as double glazed units with integral venetian blinds which gave acoustic benefits whilst aesthetically enhancing the look & functionality of the offices. Acoustic suspended ceilings with bagged insulation were fitted to maximise the acoustic & insulation properties within the offices. A new kitchen was constructed using high specification units & worktops that complimented the rest of the building.

As part of this turnkey project HMF also completed the structural dilapidations at the old site in Havant once Coopers Fire had relocated to Waterlooville including the dismantling of test rig mezzanine floors & modifications to existing mezzanine offices & associated areas.

The project had to be project managed tightly as Coopers Fire needed to move in a tight timeframe & the work involved a phased relocation of much of their existing storage equipment which HMF also incorporated within the project.

The project was built on programme & within budget & the whole building looks fantastic.
