Draper Tools are an independent family business with over a century of success having been trading since 2019.

HMF have been working at the new state-of-the-art facilities for Draper Tools at their North Baddesley distribution centre.

Hampshire Mezzanine Floors have carried out extensive alterations throughout the facility including 2 new mezzanine floor installations. HMF were provided with a design brief for a number of projects & then provided proposals for each project including AutoCAD plans & written proposals with recommendations.

Draper Tools then instructed HMF to move forward to proceed with the projects. HMF carried out full site surveys at the site to detail the full requirements.

One mezzanine floor was designed for offices which were constructed by HMF on the ground floor & new first floor mezzanine area. The mezzanine floor was designed as a two tier mezzanine so that at some time in the future when Draper Tools need the extra space, the top floor level can be utilised. This top floor level initially also provided a natural subgrid for supporting the loads of all the mechanical, electrical & refurbishment items on the floor level below.

HMF designed a knock out panel so that a secondary twin flight staircase can be incorporated easily in the future to give Draper Tools ease of implementation & minimise disruption later.

A second project was designed to use Shaftwall partitions & ceilings to box in & firestop protected staircases from an existing 3 tier mezzanine floor with all associated steelwork & refurbishment works entailed to deliver a completed project. To maximise safety, HMF used fixed scaffolding to create a safe working environment whilst working at height, complete with access & escape facilities whilst the works were undertaken.

Another mezzanine project was provided in the building with a freestanding column supported mezzanine floor built on top of an existing concrete floor & again this was designed to allow future expansion to a third tier for long term usage. The new first floor mezzanine was fitted out by HMF for the new rest room changing room facilities & welfare areas for the Draper Tools team including high specification integrated panel systems (IPS) for allowing concealed services & cisterns to be incorporated & also good quality aesthetically pleasing cubicle systems & vanity units.

HMF worked with the passenger lift manufacturer to incorporate a fire rated independent lift shaft designed to allow the lift to access up to the third level now, with supporting steelwork to brace the lift shaft externally & achieve 1 hour fire resisting.
