Fat Face goes Mobile
One of the leading clothes retailers internationally, Fat Face have over 200 stores in the UK alone. Fat Face have worked with Hampshire Mezzanine Floors for over 10 years both at Fat Face’s Head office in Havant as well as many of their stores.
HMF fitted out the main head office distribution centre in Havant, Hampshire with a mixture of mezzanine floors, pallet racking, small parts shelving and accessories. The project involved linking 2 independent buildings together with new steel clad building links to enable people & product to move between the 2 buildings in all weathers.
Recently HMF have fitted a mezzanine floor structure for Fat Face at the new Stratford City Westfield shopping centre. This is located as part of the gateway for the Olympics in 2012, making this store a high profile site which will benefit from a tremendous volume of potential customers
Fat Face have invested in mobile shelving in a number of stores that HMF have recently fitted as part of their back of house store facilities upgrade. Recent installations include Aberdeen in Scotland, Meadowhall in Sheffield and West Quay in Southampton.
At Stratford City’s Westfield Fat Face store, HMF designed a unique mezzanine, which was tailored to meet the structural design parameters of the Westfield shopping centre. The mezzanine was designed to support mobile shelving that has bases, which house Dexion Hi280 shelving. These are then moved with the use of hand cranked roller handles.
The introduction of the mezzanine floor at Stratford City has enabled the space available to be maximised for storage of their stock. The mobile shelving that has been fitted in a number of stores including the one at Stratford City has enabled the density of storage to be increased. As a result of the work completed by HMF, The conventional need for picking aisles for a normal shelving arrangement is alleviated by the mobile shelving, which only requires 1 access aisle, thereby saving Fat Face considerable floor area & space
The installation at Stratford City was carried out in a fast track fashion from design, manufacture and installation in a very tight window. HMF completed the works on programme and the other mobile installations recently undertaken have also been completed ahead of programme thereby minimising the disruption to the stores.
