Hampshire Mezzanine were asked to look at providing a heavy duty mezzanine floor structure for storage of pallets within the production area.

Established in 1984, Coolers & Condensers has long been a name recognised for quality, reliability & innovation within the refrigeration industry.

HMF carried out a survey of the area & then the Hampshire Mezzanine drawing office got to work coming up with a suitable design to cope with the heavy concentrated loads that would be present on the mezzanine floor.

The mezzanine floor was to be designed to sit between an existing high level framed gantry so the positioning of the mezzanine floor columns needed to be designed sympathetically with the position of the crane supports & surrounding production equipment & services.

HMF came up with a design with the mezzanine floor joists located at close centres to cope with the high pallet loads which needed moving with pump trucks on the mezzanine floor.

An up & over safety gate was located at the front edge of the mezzanine allowing pallets to be forked up into the area easily. A loading plate with front downstand was provided to protect the front edge of the mezzanine from impact damage & also to reduce the potential load where fork trucks were positioning the pallets.

A Hybrid General Access staircase complete with mid landing was provided for pedestrian access up onto the mezzanine floor with Durbar plate non-slip treads & high visibility nosings.

An additional Utility Escape staircase with both mid & top landing were also incorporated into the design as part of the project at the same time.

The perimeter of the mezzanine was protected by box section double tubular hand & knee rail with kickboard.

The project was completed on programme & within budget.
