Safe mezzanine from Hampshire Mezzanine Floors
Hampshire Mezzanine Floors have successfully fitted out several mezzanine floors at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton for storage platform usage.
The National Oceanography Centre carry out ocean research and technology development from the coast to the deep ocean, providing durable marine science capability including sustained ocean observing, mapping and survey, data management, and scientific advice.
The National Oceanography Centre have used the mezzanine floors for a diverse range of storage applications due to their vast array of scientific equipment and research expedition equipment.
All the mezzanine floors provided by HMF to the National Oceanography Centre have been manufactured with a hot dipped galvanised finished to withstand both high humidity and also increase durability.
The hand and knee rail supplied on these mezzanines had integral galvanised mesh fitted to the hand rail to prevent loose items from falling through the handrail. Additionally, safe access up onto the storage platform have been created by up and safety gates which ensure that no one can accidentally fall off the mezzanine floors when accessing pallets to and from the floor.
The safety gate is a hinged steel gate which can only be accessed if in the open position which them forms a hand and knee rail to the rear of the pallet being accessed ensuring that at no time an operative could be exposed to the risk of falling from the floor level.
The mezzanine floors were all completed on programme.
